PTA and Volunteering
Our PTA is a very active group, open to all members of our school community, who provide invaluable support to our school.
The group organise a number of events over the course of the school year including the Christmas Fayre, discos and a Summer Fete. The money raised from these events has contributed towards:
-
Contributing towards whole school events such as a trip to the pantomime at Oxford Playhouse and the Science Dome event in school
-
Equipment & waterproof outfits for Forest School
-
Plastic benches in the playground
-
iPads
-
Money towards WOW! Days & Trips
-
Library furniture and books
-
Fun days for the children
We hold regular meetings and are always keen to welcome new members. We also welcome volunteers to help out at our events.

Volunteering
Volunteering is an incredibly rewarding way to improve the lives of children. It is also an excellent way to gain experience working with children if you are interested in a future career in education.
We provide many opportunities for volunteering here at Sandhills. We welcome volunteers to hear children read, facilitate successful Forest School sessions and to support pupils in other aspects of learning across the curriculum.
We undertake comprehensive background checks on all staff and any volunteers for whom this is required (in accordance with OCC policy). We also ensure that all volunteers undertake training in child protection regularly in line with Oxfordshire County Council’s safeguarding policy.
If you are interested in volunteering at Sandhills, please speak to your class teacher or Mrs. Minion. You can also contact the office office@sandhillsprimary.org for more information.
